Logistics

We look forward to your participation at the 2017 EU-US FOE Symposium to be held November 16-18 at the University of California, Davis in Davis, California. 

Meeting Format

  • Symposium lasts 2½ days, from Thursday morning until Saturday lunchtime.
  • Plan to attend all sessions to reap maximum benefit and show consideration to all speakers.
  • See the Preliminary Program and List of Sessions.

Meeting Location

  • UC Davis Conference Center in Davis, California.
  • Closest airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF), about 21 miles from the hotel.
  • The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the Conference Center so rental cars are not needed.

Hotel

  • A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hyatt Place - UC Davis. 
  • Group rate is $159 per night (plus taxes).
  • We will reserve your hotel room based on your request on the travel form, due Friday, September 15.
  • Please do not contact the hotel directly to make a reservation.
  • We will email you hotel confirmation the week before the symposium.
  • You must provide a credit card or cash deposit for incidentals at check-in.
  • Check-in time is 3pm; check-out is 12noon. 
  • If you need to make changes to your hotel reservation or if your travel plans change, please contact Sherri Hunter immediately.
  • If you do not notify FOE staff or the hotel about cancelling/altering your room reservation 24 hours in advance, you will be billed for that room night.

Directions to the hotel

Ground Transportation

UC Davis is providing group bus transportation to SMF at the conclusion of the symposium. To get from the airport to the hotel:

Shared Van

  • ​From SMF, SuperShuttle offers shared vans for up to seven passengers going to various destinations for $24 one-way, $46 roundtrip, not including tip.
  • Advance reservation is recommended.
  • Follow signs to Ground Transportation.

Taxi

  • Taxis cost about $85 one-way.

Driving an Auto

  • If you are local and driving to the meeting, self-parking at the hotel is complimentary. 
  • The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the symposium so rental cars are not needed.
