My interdisciplinary work merges nano-optics, materials science, and machine learning to enable a new generation of devices for ultra-fast, ultra-thin optics, denser photonic/quantum circuitry and data storage, harsh environment sensing, biomedical applications, energy conversion, and room-temperature, efficient quantum devices.
The emerging and future technologies are not single-discipline any longer, and many of them merge conventional electrical engineering or bio-science with big data, machine learning, and soon, quantum technologies. FOE gives a unique opportunity to connect across disciplines by creating a remarkable platform for expertise exchange and new ideas generation that is critical for creation of new disruptive technologies.
