I design, analyze, and manufacture fiber-reinforced composite aerospace structures to reduce fuel consumption by reducing weight and drag while ensuring safety and cost-efficiency.
Attending the FOE gave me the opportunity to learn about non-aerospace engineering disciplines, where I discovered that we often face similar challenges in areas such as safety, reliability, sustainability, and ethics. The topic of self-driving cars and the challenges of mixing autonomous vehicles and “human-driven” cars was especially fascinating, as was the discussion about the possible positive and negative consequences of editing DNA. Finally, discussions with other participants made me see my own engineering discipline from different perspectives.
