WASHINGTON, June 24, 2013 —

Washington, DC, June 24, 2013 – Eighty-one of the nation's brightest young engineers have been selected to take part in the National Academy of Engineering's (NAE) 19th annual U.S. Frontiers of Engineering symposium.  Engineers ages 30 to 45 who are performing exceptional engineering research and technical work in a variety of disciplines will come together for the 2-1/2 day event. The participants -- from industry, academia, and government -- were nominated by fellow engineers or organizations and chosen from 310applicants.

The symposium will be hosted by DuPont on September 19-21, at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington, Delaware, and will cover cutting-edge developments in four areas: Designing and Analyzing Social Networks, Cognitive Manufacturing, Energy: Reducing our Dependence on Fossil Fuels, and Flexible Electronics.

“The well-being of society will rely on engineering ideas developed by our nation’s leading technological thinkers,” said NAE President Charles M. Vest. “The Frontiers of Engineering programs gives some of our most talented early career innovators the opportunity to create interdisciplinary relationships that are critical to shaping and advancing the future.”
